He graduated from the Conservatory of Turin in Choral Music and Chorus Conducting and in Composition with Gilberto Bosco. He continued his studies with Brian Ferneyhough at the Staatlische Hochsch\u00fcle fur Musik, Freiburg, and with Luciano Berio in Florence. An important stage in his education was a Course in Ethnomusicology with Simha Arom at the Accademia Chigiana, Siena.<br \/>\nAfter being noticed at the Bucchi Price with a musical fairytale broadcast by RAI, he has twice won the Competition \u201cPlay and Music\u201d of the magazine Amadeus and the Vigliano prize.<br \/>\nHe is interested in many areas of music: he has composed music for drama for the Repertory Theatres of Genoa and Turin, written film music for the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia Rome, and has received special mention from Ennio Morricone in a Chigiana Academy competition.<br \/>\nHe has worked extensively on the music \/ voice relation, producing radio works, songs for children and opera on texts by author Roberto Piumini he has produced books for children on musical instruments and notation.<br \/>\nHe has been active in primary education, as director in Genoa of the Choirs in various Primary Schools, Le Piccole Voci of the Alessandria Conservatory and the Biblioteca De Amicis children choir with Roberta Paraninfo and the Laboratory of Paganini.<br \/>\nFrom 2005 he is Member of A.I.K.E.M., association for music education with the Kod\u00e1ly methodology.<br \/>\nHe has composed operas for children : Zazie adapted from Queneau, Pinocchio from Collodi, Peter Pan from Barrie, Alice from Lewis Carroll, and from Piumini\u2019s books: The boy with the violin, The devil\u2019s hair, Omi and Cic, In pocket to Blu, The Brema\u2019s musicians, The Empoli\u2019s circus, The Malafiato, Tot\u00f2 Sapore, The little opera of the light, Foody.<br \/>\nHe is President and Artistic Director of Music Association Sant\u2019Ambrogio, which promotes contemporary music in Liguria and projects for children\u2019s Education.<br \/>\nHis choral music is published by BMM, Feniarco, Ferrimontana, Rugginenti.<br \/>\nHe teaches Harmony and Analysis at the Conservatory Paganini of Genoa.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Italy Andrea Basevi was born in Genoa, Italy, in 1957.
