Coro della Virgola

The Virgola Choir flanked a significant a cappella activity with some important performances of the baroque repertoire with orchestra (Durante, Charpentier, Caldara, Vivaldi) and remarkable experiences with contemporary music.
As first national execution they performed Knut Nysted’s “Stabat Mater” (Pescara 2008), Antonello Neri’s Oratorio “Celestino V” (L’Aquila, 2007), Hanns Eisler’s “La linea di condotta”, Kurt Weill’s “Il consenziente”. As first execution ever they performed various pieces composed by young italian and foreign composers.
The Virgola Choir won the 1st prize at the Competition “F. Marcacci” (2003), the 2nd prize at the 28th National Competition “Guido d’Arezzo” and in 2013 at the 3rd National Competition of Fermo. The Choir was guest of the International Festival “Pietre che cantano” and of the International Art Factory in Montepulciano (2007, 2008, 2009). They performed also in Scotland (St. Giles Cathedral in Edimburgh and Dumferline Abbey), Spain, Poland.
During the season 2014/15 the Virgola Choir cohoperated with the famous guitarist Giampaolo Bandini in order to perform Bernardo Julià’s “Concerto Juglar” and Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco’s “Romancero Gitano”; in the same season the choir performed Haendel’s “Dixit Dominus” for solo voices, chorus and orchestra. In 2016 they went back to Poland as guests for the “Gaude Mater” International Festival of Sacred Music.
