Italy – Verona

Alberto Turco is the conductor of the Cappella musicale of the Cathedral of Verona and of the Diocesan Institute of Sacred Music since 1965. He was music teacher at the Diocesan Seminary of Verona, Gregorian Chant teacher at the Sacred Music Papal Institute in Milano and Rome and Liturgical Musicology teacher at the Studio Teologico San Zeno in Verona. He is now teacher in various National and International Gregorian Chant Courses (Italy, Poland, Russia).
He is the referring teacher at the Summer Gregorian Chant courses in Fara Sabina (Rieti), in S. Martino della Scale (Monreale) and in Noci (Bari). He is artistic director of the male voices scholæ Nova Schola Gregoriana of Verona and Gregoriani Urbis Cantores of Roma, and of the female voices schola In Dulci Jubilo, with whom he participated various European, Asian and American festivals.
He is the researcher of the paleographic Gregorian collection Codices Gregoriani and of the liturgical publication of ambrosian chant (Antiphonale Missarum Simplex in 2001 and Antiphonale Missarum in 2005). He published the new edition of Psallite Domino, a collection of simple Gregorian melodies for liturgical use.

His editorial activity is now focused to the analysis and the rhythmical interpretation of the Gregorian melodies, with the publication of two works: the entire Kyriale Romanum recording, and the publication of the Liber Gradualis, iuxta ordinem Cantus Missæ, completed by critical notes and a musical recording.
He publicated various works, studies and recordings on gregorian and ambrosian chant, and revisioned unedit works by musicians as Salieri, Gazzaniga, Del Barba, Giacometti and Perazzini.
