POSTOJNA MIXED CHOIR (Mešani pevski zbor Postojna) was founded in 1983. With his clear vision and devoted professional work, its first conductor, Ivo Jelerčič, soon took the young ensemble among the best choirs in the Slovene Littoral. The choir then improved its artistic level and proved it at different competitions and many concerts. The two following periods (1997–2009 with Matej Penko and 2009–2016 with Mirko Ferlan) were marked by taking part in competitions, co-operating with local and foreign choirs and instrumentalists, the Slovenians living in neighbouring countries and abroad (Italy, Croatia, Austria; Serbia), as well as a number unique projects. Since autumn 2016 the choir has been conducted by maestro Matjaž Šček.
The repertoire of the choir is rich and diverse and includes sacred as well as profane pieces of music by Slovenian and foreign composers from all art periods. Since 1999 the choir took part in five national choral competitions (Naša pesem in Maribor, Slovenia), where it was awarded silver plaquettes and even a gold one in 2007. Since 2000 it has taken part in nineteen international competitions. It has recorded four CDs.
