Maestro Mario Lanaro
Maestro Mario Lanaro

His dayly commitment is the divulgation of music; he keeps studying Direction, Composition, Vocals, Didactics and Organ; he talks aboout music, he listens to it a lot; he seeks, he tries, he performs, he composes, he invents.
And he has fun doing it.
For more than 30 years he teaches in Conservatories: Rovigo, Trento and now the Conservatory “Dall’Abaco” in Verona.
With “Scrivi che ti canto” (promoted by the Quartetto Society of Vicenza) he created a national poetry and music contest for compulsory school (repertoire, web video-lessons, courses for teachers). He’s guest academic in seminars for teachers and directors. He collaborates with many realities, from amateurs to professionals, creating a planning, adaptable, focused and stimulating “Making Choir” that involves choristers and directors at the same time. He conducts traditional and contemporary choral and orchestral music, also in first performances.
In 2002 he was awarded with the “Castello d’Oro” prize (Conegliano) and the prize “to the Italian choral movement” (Piacenza, 2006). From an early age he achieved victories in national and international contests: Vittorio Veneto (1977), Adria (1977, 1978, 1982), Ivrea (1979), Cuneo (1981), Stresa (1985). He also won first prizes at Choral Composition contests: Trieste USCI (1989), Verona AGC (2002, 2004, 2008), Tours (1985, recommendation and publication). He published choral, organ and liturgical music (editors: Carrara, Elledici, A Coeur Joie) and four-hand piano music (Sikorsky).
Many of his compositions are part of some choirs’ repertoires.
He attended the “Forum International de Musique Chorale Contemporaine” with the project “El Canto” (1999) conducting the “Umberto Zeni” Vocal Ensemble.
In 2011 his opera La fabbrica di cioccolato (based on R. Dahl’s book Charlie and the Chocolate Factory) was performed in the Malibran Theatre of Venice. In 2012 the house Carrara published his methodology Esperienze corali (Choral experiences), which is very succesfull at the moment.
He conducts great choral groups for important events: IV Convention (See of Verona, 1987), “Se in Trentino d’Estate un Castello” (Casterl Beseno for the Federation of Choirs from Trentino, 1989) 32° International Sacred Music Festival “Virgo Lauretana” in Loreto (RAI Uno, 1992), “Conto Cento Canto Pace” (Verona Arena, ASAC 2015).
