The Corale Polifonica “Johannes Obadiah” was founded in 2003 in the association Gruppo Recupero Tradizioni Locali (Group for the Recovery of Local Traditions), celebrating this year their fourteenth year of activity. The Choir was so named after the Oppidan musician who lived between 1070 and 1140 and converted to Judaism in 1102.
The Choir’s repertoire is mainly poliphonic and includes experimentations on folk and traditional music, easy listenings, Neapolitan songs, liturgical music, gospels, opera choruses and great sacred compositions.
The most representative authors are: Vivaldi, Bach, Haendel, Mozart, Liszt, B. Marcello, Durante, Verdi, Rheinberger, Perosi, Mascagni.
The Choir is conducted by Maria Caterina De Bonis.
